New high-performance module from Kyocera: 60 solar cells supply 235 watts of power

Kyocera at Intersolar 2010

April 15, 2010 - Kyoto / Neuss, 15 April 2010 − The Japanese technology corporation Kyocera, one of the leading manufacturers in the photovoltaic field, is bringing another solar module from the powerful KD series onto the market with its KD235GH-2PB. Kyocera is exhibiting the KD235GH-2PB at Intersolar in Munich from 9 to 11 June, Stand B6.342.

With its 60 cells and an output of 235 W, the large KD235GH-2PB module by Kyocera is particularly aimed at plants in industry and on open spaces since fewer modules are used to achieve a high output, thus enabling installation costs to be reduced. However, the KD235GH-2PB can be employed equally well for conventional house roof installations. Because of the new module dimensions of 1662 x 990 millimetres, Kyocera has attached two additional cross-struts to the rear of the module in order to ensure stability.

A strong frame for the module guarantees high mechanical stability: it can withstand a high wind pressure and a snow load of up to 5,400 N/m2. The black frame blends well with the dark cells and enhances the aesthetics of the installation.
In the contacts for the junction boxes, Kyocera opts for high-quality soldered joints rather than clamped joints, and thus offers dependable protection against fire hazards. The junction box meets the requirements of the highest non-combustibility rating of 5V-A in compliance with UL94.

Kyocera makes all components in its own manufacturing facilities, without buying in any intermediate products – starting with the processing of the raw material, via cell production, through to module assembly. This guarantees the high quality standards that Kyocera places on its products in order to deliver maximum quality and reliability. Like all KD modules by Kyocera, the KD235GH-2PB fulfils the new IEC 61215 ed.2 and IEC 61730 standards.

The KD235GH-2PB is scheduled available as from June 2010.
